Human curated, robot automated listing of stuff happening in Huddersfield.

The robot part is a simple python programme that checks each page from a list of Facebook pages to see if they have published a new event, records the details of the event, and then posts the details to the Stuff Happening in Huddersfield Facebook page, with follow-up reminders for each event on both the evening before it happens and on the day.

The human curated part is the selection of which people and organisations the programme checks each day.

That list is chosen by me, with some care.

It embodies a very wide definition of culture, for example it includes the local Park Run and a ballroom dancing studio, and it happily excludes one very visible organisation from the recognised "arts sector". I have made that curatorial choice because I think it's the wrong kind of organisation for a town of the size and character of Huddersfield, and that the arts and culture in the town would flourish much more without it.
