Thumbprint Manningham Library Consultation
2008
A welcoming, inclusive way to ask people about the future of their local library.
"Plz keep da library open even wen da work on da extension starts v r begin u"
"At Manningham library i want a place which is specifically dedicated for the means of studying also with the access of WIFI system"
Kevin Harris, who was employed to run the consultation process, said of Thumbprint:
"it broadens the choices for people who may have something to say, and therefore belongs in the mix of engagement options."
Manningham library consultation drew on the experience of initiatives such as Where Were You Happiest to Arrive and The Guardian Text Message Poetry Competition which showed a welcoming, inclusive way to engage people.
The approach taken in Manningham led to Thumbprint Camden participatory budgeting process.
