Thumbprint Mobile Search
2009
Using natural language processing of text to enable easy, intuitive mobile search through Thumbprint.
We tried this out by allowing people to search for activities in a programme of half term and summer events for children and families in their neighbourhood, an area of Huddersfield where there are higher than average levels of disadvantage.
"It was really good - if you loose the forms at least you can ask what's on and where."
A collaboration with researchers at the University of Edinburgh and University of Huddersfield.
The experience gained from the local events search initiative led on to sponsoring a PHD in natural language processing.
I've got an ongoing interest in natural language processing and am hoping to get back to it soon.
